Histology

Technician viewing microscope image
Histology is the study of cells and tissue at the microscopic level and is used to evaluate new medical devices in-vivo. Features such as tissue-implant interaction and quality of repair can be assessed. Histological techniques are used to prepare slides from tissue specimens which are then examined and interpreted. Measurements of specific tissue structures e.g. new bone, angiogenesis can also be performed.
